Overview

WiFi Toggle Blocker is a Chrome extension designed for school IT administrators to prevent students from using managed Chromebooks with WiFi turned off. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

Data Collection

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data whatsoever.

Specifically, the extension:

• Does not collect any personal information
• Does not collect browsing history or activity
• Does not track user behavior
• Does not use cookies or local storage
• Does not communicate with any external servers
• Does not use analytics or telemetry

How It Works

The extension only checks one thing: whether the device has an active internet connection, using the browser's built-in navigator.onLine property. This is a simple true/false value provided by the browser itself.

When the device is offline, the extension displays a local blocking overlay. When the device reconnects, the overlay is removed. No network requests are ever made by the extension.

Permissions Explained

• declarativeNetRequest: Used to redirect page navigations to a local "Connect to WiFi" page when the device is offline. No network traffic is monitored or logged.
• alarms: Used to periodically check connectivity status as a fallback (once per minute) in case browser events are missed.
• Content scripts (all URLs): Used to inject the blocking overlay into open tabs when WiFi disconnects. The script only checks navigator.onLine and shows/hides the overlay.

Third Parties

This extension does not share data with any third parties because it does not collect any data.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be posted at this URL. The extension's core behavior of not collecting data will not change.
